Dair Appreciation Week: Day Four (Moment You Started Shipping Them)
Empire of the Son, 4x17
________________________________
There was so much Dair in this episode that it was almost too much to handle. And that fact that they finally addressed the issue of whether Dan and Blair would ever go there was the cherry on top. Before this episode, I feel like I was holding my breath for any sign of hope of an actual romantic relationship for these two. From the very beginning they were my favorite two characters, so naturally, their screentime together was my favorite. But actually believing some feelings would surface between them? Pffftt I knew better than to let my mind go there. ESPECIALLY with the way their relationship had started. Then they started having more scenes together, and scheming and having more awesome witty banners, and slowly but surely, I started letting the idea of them grow bigger in the back of my mind until suddenly I was shipping them hardcore and anxiously awaiting their next scene together.
And the writers must’ve felt the chemistry too, hence the brilliant episode that was 4x17. Now why the writers ever felt like they didn’t deserve a proper run as a couple, or a proper breakup for that matter, will forever be beyond me.

The dress + hairstyle combination on Blair fit together really nicely. And this is one of the few episodes that we got to see a Dan & Blair centered episode where Dan actually had a decent haircut, so I appreciate that most from his outfit. Plus he’s wearing a suit, ‘nuf said.

Dair Appreciation Week: Day Two (Favorite Quote)
Despicable B, 5x21
Dan: Maybe you are so focused on how everyone else perceives you that you no longer know who you are. And that’s too bad because if you could only see what I see.
Blair: Somehow between being traded for a hotel and selling out for a tiara, I lost my true self. But I want to be found. Could you possibly help?
Dan: I have a feeling that the real Blair Waldorf is a lot closer than you think. It wasn’t too long ago she and I were working side-by-side at W, and I completely fell for her.
Blair: And, what was that girl like?
Dan: That girl is fiercely strong. Independent. Outspoken. Beautiful. Capable of anything…and no man or magazine should be able to take that away from her.

For obvious reasons this is my favorite verbiage between them. Especially the ending (“No man or magazine should be able to take that away from her.”) Because where Chuck was always emphasizing the power of the Chuck and Blair duo, Dan did the opposite I feel. He was so selfless in their relationship, making sure she was alright first, before worrying about himself. That’s key, to any relationship really - knowing yourself. Blair was starting to find her real self with Dan, it’s sad that we weren’t allowed to see her reach her full potential with him :/

Dair Appreciation Week: Day One (Favorite Episode)
Empire of the Son, 4x17
Dan: “I’ve been walking around the city all night with one all-consuming, paralyzing thought.”
Blair: “…why am I in the City when I live in Brooklyn?”
Dan: “Blair, what if there is another reason we’ve been keeping us a secret.
Blair: “Another reason like what?”
Dan: “Plausible deniability. Blair, we’ve been keeping us a secret because we’re afraid there is something more.”

Basically because this is where it all started for them romantically (even though it took Blair a while longer to get with the program.)
People thought I was crazy for ever wanting to see them as a pair, but the episodes following up to this one and this episode especially, just helped convince me more of just how plain awesome they were together.
I DARED TO DAIR AND I REGRET NOTHING

“They send a person who can never stay,” she whispered. “Who can never accept my offer of companionship for more than a little while. They send me a hero I can’t help … just the sort of person I can’t help falling in love with.”

As I sailed into the lake I realized the Fates really were cruel. They sent Calypso someone she couldn’t help but love. But it worked both ways. For the rest of my life I would be thinking about her. She would always be my biggest what if.”

I guess the reason I can’t really see the comparisons between Dair & Steroline is because where Caroline has helped build Stefan up at his lowest, just like he did her, all Blair did was put Dan down pre-dating. Steroline is more of an mutual respect kind if friendship, whereas Dair had it’s rough patches before Blair really considered Dan to being even remotely close to her “high-standing.”

Not trying to start an argument or anything, just my thoughts
